1/25/2010Technical Guidelines for Golf Courses Lightning Warning and Protection Systems
Golf courses projects attract billions of USD from the real estate investors that are developing integrated programs including hotels, luxurious villas and residential complex, commercial centres...But a single lightning discharge can endanger within a few milliseconds these investments.
This document aims at providing the owners, developers, designers and operators with the necessary guidelines to install :
- a Lightning warning system that will allow the players and staff on the course to interrupt the play and look for safe shelters
- a Lightning Protection design dedicated to golf courses, providing the players with a direct lightning protection system if they are still on the course when the thunderstorm starts.
Today, no Court will accept casualties on Golf courses because lightning is an "act of God". The Golf course management companies must provide its patrons with warning and protection systems or may be found guilty of negligence. Costs of lightning warning and protection systems should then be contrasted with a median wrongful death award of 500,000 US$ in the USA or with the millions of US$ invested directly and indirectly into the development of the course.
12/23/2009Successful launch of the new Stormonitor
Creating and maintaining a safe working environment is essential to an increasing number of industries and facilities. An important facet of Safety Management is guarding the safety of personnel against injuries due to lightning. A comprehensive lightning warning system must therefore provide:
- an early detection to ensure sufficient time to cease work, or to make operations safe and/or shelter personnel,
- an integrated Communication to external alert systems (beacons, sirens, SMS...)
- perfect accuracy of lightning detection system to avoid any costly false alerts.
After due consideration to the above requirements, INDELEC is proud to introduce the Stormonitor Lightning Warning System. The system has been widely tested in High Voltage Laboratories as well as in real lightning conditions (tests presentation available on request) and the first installation abroad has been completed on December 3, 2009 in Singapore.

2/27/2008A new Prevectron installation on a high rise building !
The new T1 tower in Paris La Defense is now protected, using INDELEC early streamer emission air terminal Prevectron 2.
More than 1000 fixings have to be fixed by the four men squad on the building metallic structure before the down conductors can be properly installed along the newly built T1 tower (http://www.t1-defense.com/) in Paris business district of La Défense. It became a real challenge due to the height, the cold temperature as well as the very strong wind !
Besides the complete lightning protection systems, 6 obstacle warning lights manufactured by Indelec sister company Delta Box have also been installed.
The experience gained by INDELEC on the T1 project is extremely valuable to prepare future high-rise buildings installations in France (project for a new office building of more than 300m height in the same Paris La Défense district) and abroad...
2/6/2008New self testing Prevectron S 6.60 T
INDELEC launches its first self testing version of Prevectron Millenium ESE air terminal
Advantages :
• The power supply circuit for the test does not require a battery because energy is provided directly by the solar panel. Consequently the lightning conductor does not require any additional maintenance or periodic disassembly, which is essential for replacing a battery.
• The product’s lifetime is not limited by the additional test circuit.
• The test can be carried out during daytime within a wide outdoor temperature range.
• Only the triggering of the test is carried out by remote control, guaranteeing the system’s reliability.
• The communication module is in a separate enclosure underneath the PREVECTRON® 2 and has reinforced EMC protection.
• The protection performance characteristics of the PREVECTRON® 2 Millenium S6.60T Lightning Conductor remain unchanged.

New website objectives and purposes
Since 1999, the company website became less and less attractive for both our French and foreign customers and business partners. In order to take advantage of the latest web technologies and improve the website appealing, a web agency has been designated in last June to completely revamp the website.
The main targets are firstly to underline Indelec group lightning protection expertise, its professionalism and dynamism; secondly to provide our business partners abroad with secure and useful technical and marketing information.
Integrating new tools (such as the lightning protection requirement calculation on line), the website also proposes a complete presentation of Indelec products and services, from the manufacture of the Prevectron 2 Millenium Early Streamer Emission air terminal to the maintenance of the LPS on site, including the lightning protection survey and installation services.
