INDELEC has always dedicated large investment on research, both on the lightning phenomenon and on the development of new lightning protection technologies.

Since 1993, INDELEC has become the only world manufacturer of Early Streamer Emission air terminals conducting test campaigns in real lightning conditions. INDELEC has also built its own high voltage laboratory in the North of France to fulfil its R&D department requirements.

Tests en laboratoire haute tension

According to the NF C 17-102 Annex C standard, the ESE air terminals must be tested in HV Lab (calculation of the advanced triggering time Δt). INDELEC conducted these tests in French independent labs (Renardières HV Lab, Cediver lab in Bazet) as well as abroad (Belgium, Canada, South Korea, China, Czech Republic, India), INDELEC is also conducting tests in its own HV lab in North of France for research and development of new products purposes.

Tests en conditions réelles de foudre

The first real lightning test campaign was initially launched in1993 to cope with the non representativity of the HV lab tests: a laboratory can not reproduce all the constraints applied to a lightning protection air terminal on site (climatic and electrical constraints and so on...). Since then, INDELEC has been conducting these test campaigns in various countries besides the normative HV Lab tests.
